RUMENFIBE Administration
Q1: How can I learn about RUMENFIBE administration in detail?
A1: We supply an administration instruction manual and demonstration DVD.
We may be able to provide an on-site demonstration depending on your location.

Q2: How many RUMENFIBE units are required per cow?
A2: Three units are required per animal.
Fewer units decreases the frequency of rumination, while additional units will not produce a greater effect than three.

Q3: When can I administer RUMENFIBE to my cows?
A3: A rule of thumb for administration is to proceed when your cows reach six months of age or more, or approx. 250 kg in weight.
However, administration to calves requires sufficient caution, since their mouths and esophagus are less matured than adults.

Q4: Are there any cases involving administered units being vomited or discharged from cows?
A4: Basically, RUMENFIBE remains in the rumen throughout the animal's lifetime and is never conveyed to the reticulum, eliminating any possibility of discharge from the anus.
However, when administered calves have matured into adults, their enlarged esophagus may allow the units to pop up during rumination, in extremely rare cases.

Q5: Can RUMENFIBE units used on processed animals be recycled?
A5: No. Since the brush fiber tips bend after 3 years (for beef cattle) and 7 or 8 years (for dairy cattle) of use, the product can then no longer provide effective rumen stimulation.

Q6: Is there any potential for long fibrous feeds (e.g. rice straw) to become entangled with RUMENFIBE units in the rumen?
A6: Yes, there is. For this reason, we recommend that you cut up long fibrous feed such as plant straw into shorter lengths before feeding. However, if such entanglement does occur, there is no need for concern, since such entangled fibrous feed would eventually be digested.

NOTE: However, ensure that cows do not swallow indigestible objects such as vinyl ropes bundling the fibrous feed, which may become intertwined with the unit and render it useless. Sufficient caution is required.

Q7: Can RUMENFIBE totally replace straw (fibrous) feed?
A7: No. Since RUMENFIBE only replaces the physical properties of fibrous feed (for rumen stimulation), the latter cannot be eliminated completely.
However, the coarseness of fibrous feed can also be replaced, hence it may be reduced depending on the individual animals.
Some farmers have succeeded in reducing straw feeding to just every other day (halving the amount previously required).

Q8: For RUMENFIBE administration, is it a case of the sooner the better?
A8: Yes. We recommend early administration after cows have reached the period specified in A3 (six months old or 250 kg of body weight) for several reasons:
- RUMENFIBE can be a proactive treatment for bloating and abomasal displacement and has many such uses.
- Since RUMENFIBE can function throughout the animal's lifetime, early administration provides better cost performance.

Q9: Can RUMENFIBE be used on cows bred for reproduction?
A9: Yes. Since RUMENFIBE enhances feeding efficiency, assorted feed may be reduced to some extent.
